Happy August. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer, or winter if you are on the other side of the world and reading this!

I wanted to get in contact and update you all with progress of our latest collection which is in production due to our wonderful Kickstarter backers.

After the original delay with our weaving due to the mill summer closures, I spoke with the weavers last week who told me everything was currently going on to the loom! I was not able to visit the mill to see production but the weavers have promised they would get someone to photograph the weaving, so as soon as I have this footage I will be sure to share it with you all!

After the scarves and blankets are woven, they then have to be finished, which is the final process of production. This is conducted by a different supplier and we use a company called Schofields Dyers and Finishers which are based in Galashiels, just 40 miles away from the weaver.

At the finishers the fabrics are washed, scoured and dried, and then also brushed to give that super soft finish, and the tassels are then wound as well.

If you want to see more about this process, please click on the image above. I recently found this great website called Make Works whose aim is to connect makers with designers to build on the manufacturing in Scotland which I think is fab.

The video is great as you can see the whole process, and see the vastness of the operation as well.

As part of Dashing Tweeds, we visited the finishers back in 2013, and they really are the experts, knowing all the special effects and qualities they can achieve all within the finishing process.

However due to the summer closures, a back log of work has built up and I have been placed in what I have been told is quite a long queue for my pieces to be finished.

The process normally takes 2 weeks, and I am hoping it is just a week or so on top that is the delay, but they have not been able to be exact.

I am hoping to be able to get all the pieces out to the Kickstarter backers by mid/ end of September, and I will keep you posted along the way.

I am also researching new stockists to sell my products, so if you know any wonderful boutiques who might like my collections, please do share.
